Climate Wise-Energy Star Alliance in San Diego
The Climate Wise-Energy Star® Alliance is a partnership founded on a commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through energy and fuel efficiencies, and the use of renewable energy and alternative fuels.
San Diego Environmental Services and Energy Conservation ProgramsThe City of San Diego Environmental Services Department, San Diego Regional Energy Office and San Diego Gas and Electric are co-sponsors of the program. This brings together the administrative support for the business community along with the technical support often needed to guarantee success.Private companies, public institutions, nonprofit organizations, and other entities located in the San Diego region are all encouraged to become Partners. To join, contact the City of San Diego representative, Linda Pratt, at 858-492-5088, or e-mail. The alliance supports the Partners in a number of ways: "Best in class" industry actions are awarded and promoted; information and assistance are provided on a range of emissions-reducing opportunities, and "Peer Exchanges" are organized to advance many of the successful business practices. The program assists Partners with developing their corporate policy or statement, setting performance levels, and increasing awareness of energy efficiency among employees. Free energy audits are also available. The program formally acknowledges participating companies for their greenhouse gas emission reduction efforts. An annual Climate Wise-Energy Star Partner of the Year is recognized by the City of San Diego's Mayor. Public recognition has also included media coverage provided by the City, promotional activities with elected officials, and applications to State and National awards programs.
