Environmentally Preferable Product (EPP)
Environmentally Preferable Product and Environmentally Preferable Purchasing (EPP)
Environmentally Preferable Product
The phrase "environmentally preferable products" was defined by the federal government in 2002 as "products and services that have a lesser or reduced effect on human health and the environment when compared to other products and services that serve the same purpose."
Since that time various states and local governments have included EPP as a criteria for public agency purchasing. Check with the government or nonprofit with whom you are dealing to define what is included in their "Environmentally Prferable Products" program requirements.
Environmentally Preferable Purchasing
Environmentally Preferable Purchasing (EPP) helps the federal government "buy green," and in doing so, uses the federal government's enormous buying power to stimulate market demand for green products and services. Geared first to help federal purchasers, this site can help green vendors, businesses large and small -- and consumers. Use the easy index to:
- Find and evaluate information about green products and services;
- Identify federal green buying requirements;
- Calculate the costs and benefits of purchasing choices;
- Manage green purchasing processes.
