Trucks Save Money and Waste With HEPO ByPass Filters
Filtration is one of the simplest, strongest emissions reduction strategies available for transportation and diesel equipment. Particulate matter is a serious health danger not only for the communities in which trucking and off road equipment operate, but for the drivers themselves -- and even the equipment. Good filters save wear and tear on engines -- and that lengthens equipment life and reduces fuel and fluids cost.
There are 4 basic types of bypass filters. Hepo Micro-bypass FiltrationHEPO employs a method of both "surface" and "depth" filtration - achieved by winding a specially blended yarn of cotton and cellulose in a precise diagonal pattern around a perforated center tube. The HEPO element features many hundreds of identical, tapered (decreasing in size), spiral passageways that trap successively smaller particles as oil flows inward toward the center core.Rolled PaperOil flows axially (lengthwise) through a roll of high-quality rolled filter paper, wound on a central core, fit tightly into a cylindrical container, or commercially available toilet paper or paper towel rolls, inserted into a cylindrical containerOil Refiner (Heating Element Bypass Filters)Some bypass filters feature a heated chamber, also known as an evaporation chamber or plenum chamber. In this design, oil first travels through the filter’s medium, and then enters the evaporation chamber where it is heated to 190º-200º. Manufacturers of this type of system theorize that heating the oil to this level will "flash off" water and fuel in the oil.Centrifuge Style Bypass FiltersThis type of device is really a centrifugal separator, not a filter. Centrifuge designs feature a non-pressurized housing that contains a rapidly spinning basket. The spinning basket is driven by a turbine that is powered by the pressurized oil flowing through the engine. Particles, via centrifugal force, are separated from the oil and flung to the wall of the basket where they adhere and build up.HEPO Filters of Santa Monica, reports that their independent laboratory test results show
HEPO Filters micro bypass filters provide cleaning of engine lubrication oil that helps oil reach its full useful life. By keeping the engine clean you save money, reduce toxic waste oil pollution, increase fuel efficiency (2%) and increase engine life. Increasing engine life provides longterm savings and additional reduction of waste going into the waste stream; and related environmental benefits from cleaner air and oil use. HEPO Filter Field UseSupplemental micro bypass filters are installed in about an hour, have no moving parts and they are easy to service when changing the replacement element.Quality filters help truck and equipment owners get the most out of their engine oil expenditures and keep their vehicles cleaner while at the same time, reducing wear and abrasion in the engine. Additional benefits of helping oil stay clean include lengthening the life of the vehicle and saving fuel costs, and saving significant, but hard-to-track downtime costs. Applications for Engine Oil FiltersLarge truck fleets, commercial fishing boats, construction equipment and service contractors using outfitted pickup trucks are all saving money by keeping their oil clean and helping the environment at the same time. The environment is a model for "filtration efficiencies" -- everything in nature is used, reused, repurposed and filtered with natural systems. Wetlands are one good examples of this natural system of liquid filtration. High quality filtration systems model themselves after these natural systems.
