WaterSense Label

The WaterSense label is a certification mark identifying a water-efficient product that has been independently tested to meet the EPA WaterSense criteria for efficiency and performance. The label can also identify certification programs that meet EPA specifications. It is being registered with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Any organization that wishes to use the WaterSense label must have a current, EPA-signed partnership agreement in place. The label may only be used in conjunction with and adjacent to a specific WaterSense labeled product or professional program, and only for products and programs for which EPA has issued a final specification.

Product Certification and Labeling

The WaterSense label makes it easy for consumers to recognize products and programs that save water without sacrificing performance or quality. Independent, third-party licensed certifying bodies will certify that products meet EPA criteria for water efficiency and performance by following testing and certification protocols specific to each product category. Products that are certified to meet EPA specifications are allowed to bear the WaterSense label.

Home Plumbing Fixtures
  • Toilets
  • Bathroom sink faucets
  • Showerheads

Landscape Irrigation
  • Landscape irrigation services
  • Weather- or sensor-based irrigation control technologies

WaterSense has posted a listing of licensed certifying bodies currently accredited to certify plumbing products that meet WaterSense criteria. The list is also obtainable from the WaterSense Helpline at (866) WTR-SENS (987-7367).

WaterSense Promotional Label

In order to help organizations, retailers, distributors, manufacturers, and other promotional partners advertise and identify WaterSense labeled products for their customers, WaterSense created the promotional label. Partners can use the promotional label on a variety of materials, from brochures and advertisements to point-of-purchase displays and Web sites, in the context of "look for" or "ask about" the WaterSense label, or, for retailer partners, in the context of "we sell" WaterSense labeled products.

WaterSense Partner Logo

The WaterSense partner logo signifies an organization's commitment to promoting water efficiency, demonstrated by a signed partnership agreement between that organization and EPA. The partner logo may only be used by a partner to demonstrate its involvement in the program. The partner logo in no way signifies that an organization's product or program has earned the WaterSense label. Rather, it shows an organization's or individual's commitment to work with the EPA to advance the goals of the program.

Who can use the partner logo?

All WaterSense partners, including: utilities, state and local governments, nonprofit organizations, manufacturers, retailers/distributors, professional certifying organizations, and individuals who have successfully completed a WaterSense labeled professional certification program.
