Demand Response Programs for Energy Savings

Demand response programs to retrofit buildings for energy efficiency and savings

The term demand response, describes an energy saving strategy employed specifically when there is heavy demand on the electrical grid, usually in hot weather months, during the hours of 2pm to 7 pm. These are known as "peak demand" hours.

Demand response programs use rates, incentives and other strategies to help you better manage your electricity use during periods of high peak demand.

With a goal of reducing peak demand by 5%, California leads the way in US Demand Response programs and over-200MW advanced metering systems. Through a variety of residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional programs implemented by the Public Utilities, MUNIs and 3rd Party Providers, you can engage your company, institution or organization in becoming demand response leaders.

Review a list of California's Demand Response Programs. Programs are available from local utility companies, as well as companies such as

ConSol (Program identifies key emerging technologies to develop inspection and evaluation processes in the residential new construction market.)

Energy Controls and Concepts (Program installs T-8 lighting systems that feature demand response (DR) dimming technology.)

EnergySolve Demand Response (Program installs T5 lighting fixtures, achieves total dispatchability of the wireless dimmable T-5 lights in each facility to achieve the available demand response.)

Lockheed Martin Aspen (Combining elements of SPC, Express Efficiency and Audits; Focus on end-use technology and industrial process improvements to yield optimum energy savings)

Optimal Technologies (customer-determined demand-side management, demand response programs, metering, Time-Of-Use (TOU) pricing, and end-to-end system-wide power management)
