Sell biobased products to the federal government and get your products listed in their biobased product directory.
BioPreferred is a USDA Federal program that aims to increase the purchase and use of biobased products. Biobased products are made from biological or renewable agricultural materials like plant, animal, marine or forestry ingredients.
Examples of biobased products for commercial, industrial or consumer use include: building materials, lubricants, bioplastics, and cleaning products.
Visit with more than 10,000 members of the Federal procurement community, vendors and other stakeholders. The Federal government has buying power of more than $450 billion. The BioPreferred Showcase provides you with the invaluable opportunity to promote your biobased products by networking with Federal procurement officials and contracting officers who have authority over purchasing decisions.

Biobased Product Submission
The USDA is currently in the process of collecting biobased product information to foster procurement of biobased products by the federal government. Products may only be listed in our catalog once their designations have been finalized.
If your company has not previously registered with the BioPreferred program you must do so before individual products can be submitted. Product information submitted to the BioPreferred program will be entered into a secure database and kept in strict confidence. Product and company information may be listed in the Biobased Products Catalog on the BioPreferred website following the finalization of the specific product designation rules.
Register your company information and submit your biobased products here.

Labeling Biobased Products
BioPreferred was created by the Farm Security and Rural Investment Act of 2002 (2002 Farm Bill), and expanded by the Food, Conservation, and Energy Act of 2008 (2008 Farm Bill) to increase the purchase and use of biobased products. The United States Department of Agriculture manages the program. BioPreferred includes a preferred procurement program for Federal agencies and their contractors, and a voluntary labeling program for the broad scale consumer marketing of biobased products.
BioPreferred designates items, or generic groupings of biobased products, that are required for purchase by Federal agencies and their contractors include a minimum biobased content and require information on the technical, health, and environmental characteristics of these products are made available on the BioPreferred Web site.
Beginning in 2009, biobased intermediate ingredients and feedstocks will be included in the designation process. These intermediates are used to make finished consumer products.
Under the voluntary labeling program, biobased products that meet the BioPreferred program requirements will soon carry a distinctive label for easier identification by government, businesses and consumers.
