Free and Low Cost Job Training Directory by I-TRAIN, Workforce Investment Board
Workforce Investment Board provides job training funds for unemployed and underemployed workers in Southern California
The system of local and regional "Workforce Investment Boards" is one of the best kept secrets -- and allies -- or unemployed or underemployed workers.
The FEDERAL Workforce Investment Board is a channel through which training reimbursement funds are channeled to individuals who need job training.
LOCAL Workforce Investment Boards are in most cities across California and they work with the FEDERAL, STATE and LOCAL governments to channel job training and job search services to individuals.
How great is that!
The South Bay Workforce Investment Board is a federally funded organization that has taken a leadership role in providing information, such as directories of qualified training sources, across the Los Angeles Region.
The primary objective of the South Bay Workforce Investment Board is to provide policy guidance which will allow the staff to create, within the South Bay Service Delivery Area, an environment where every person maximizes his or her career potential, and all employers have the human resources they need to grow and prosper.
South Bay One-Stop Business and Career Center
Provides the business community and the adult or youth job seeker with access to a variety of services including a wide range of employment and training programs.
South Bay Business Resource Network
Provides access to valuable resources and information, which can help businesses reduce and in some cases avoid costs, and plan and improve their operations. We provide no-cost services, cost-based, and discounted, fee-based services to our customers.
South Bay Workforce Investment Consortium
The specific purposes of the corporation are to design, develop, oversee and facilitate the implementation of a comprehensive, and well coordinated, workforce investment system in the Los Angeles Region that responds rapidly and effectively to the needs of business, industry and individuals.
I-TRAIN
I-TRAIN is a directory of job training organizations such as colleges and private training programs that have been researched and found to be qualified to be reimbursed with federal funds for training individual job trainees.
www.i-train.org/ helps job seekers, those in need of training, and employers as well as training providers.
The I-TRAIN program was developed in the 1990s to help the aerospace workers find new jobs and careers. Today it is turning its resources toward the NEW GREEN ECONOMY and is undertaking a concerted research effort for green job training that can be reimbursed with public funds. The SOUTHBAY WIB was awarded an $18 million grant by the Department of Labor, the largest grant of its kind ever to provide basic readjustment and retraining service to dislocated aerospace workers throughout the Southern California region (Santa Barbara to San Diego).
- I-TRAIN alleviates the duplication procurement, monitoring and evaluation.
- I-TRAIN standardizes data across a wide area. Data is easily retrievable.
- I-TRAIN allows for services to clients in a convenient and effective way.
- I-TRAIN allows clients to make an informed choice about their training.
- I-TRAIN is the most advanced, sophisticated, accurate system for delivery of approved vendors.
This Regional Training Vendor Directory is also recognized and used by the State of California, and many local Workforce Investment Boards and One-Stop employment organizations.
