Middlebrook Gardens Opens a Sustainable Garden with California Plant Community Display Garden in San Jose
The first of its kind, the Middlebrook designers have organized their nursery by plant community. Knowledgeable staff is on hand to help answer questions about what plants are most suitable for each particular plant community. Customers are invited to bring pictures if they have any particular areas in a garden they would like the California-gardening experts to take a look at and give advice about sustainable landscape solutions. Alrie Middlebrook's new book "Designing California Native Gardens; the Plant Community Approach to Artful, Ecological Gardens," will also be available for sale to help you plan and develop your own California native gardens. "When you go into suburbia, you see a landscape that is contrived, and an introduced landscape that has become familiar to our eyes," Alrie said in a recent interview. "But there's another world here, and that is the world of the native flora of California. This is a beautiful natural system that has flourished without our assistance." The Middlebrook Gardens staff looks forward to helping Californians reduce their carbon footprint by creating a native garden. With rising costs left and right, native gardens are a great way to take a first step to improve the environment and beautify your home at the same delightful time! Middlebrook Gardens Native Plant Nursery is open Saturdays from 9-3.
