Solutions Start with Problems That Meet Heart and Hard Work

Key issues. Solutions. Commitment to dig our way out of this hole. That's our shared agenda.

Find green business solutions
What are the issues facing our Congress? Having attended a conference on "Energy and Security" at UCLA yesterday, I was left with several questions, where does energy really fit in our challenges as parents and business people? What is our government addressing?

I did a bit of research and found this list of navigation links on the Speaker of the House's website. Since they are not in alphabetical order, I assume they are in some sort of priority order.

  • America’s Affordable Health Choices Act
  • Executive Compensation Reform
  • Food Safety
  • Labor-HHS Appropriations
  • Transportation/HUD Appropriations
  • Pay-As-You-Go Act
  • Financial Services Appropriations
  • MilCon/VA Appropriations
  • State & Foreign Operations
  • Small Business Innovation
  • American Clean Energy and Security Act
  • Health Care For Our Veterans
  • Credit Cardholders' Rights
  • Helping Homeowners
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Green Schools
  • Defense Procurement Reform
  • Mortgage Reform
  • Fighting Fraud
  • Recovery & Reinvestment

I find that I can agree that these are among the most difficult issues facing us. And also where many of the solutions can arise from. Pockets of hope come from green schools -- our youth. And Small Business innovation -- where jobs come from. And several references to reform.

That touches a hot button for me. I'm rather ashamed of much that my country is exhibiting these days. The hatred. The lack of respect in communications. The greed and lack of self-discipline. The cannibalism of our own people's well being and future. The list of problems is long.

But I also meet people who have solutions. People who are working diligently and for very low pay to develop their ideas into small businesses and work 24/7 to rear good families. And work in their communities. And study hard to prepare for a better career.

We have the solutions in our hearts and our hands. And we can climb out of this deep hole we have dug ourselves into. But it is going to be hard work.

Are we up to that hard work?
