I live near the plastic flotilla shown in this video by Captain Moore, the discoverer of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch ... and it makes me heartsick after every sprinkle that we call a rain.
One of my favorite little pleasures is to drive along our coast, Santa Monica Bay in Southern California...the shores of the great Pacific Ocean.
And I'm deeply concerned by what I see every time I take a stroll. Or count the oil tankers just offshore. And learn new stats about how many illnesses of surfers and swimmers and vacationers are caused by polluted water along these sandy beaches.
Here's the story about ocean pollution, in case you haven't had a recent update.
So...take action today. Use reusable containers. Refuse to take that plastic bottle of water, Carry a cup with you. Use less. Wash your dishes and reuse scrap paper...
It all sounds so un-American, doesn't it?
But if you love the beauty of America, it can sound Very-American!
