Parks Profile in Camarillo, CA
Camarillo, CA is a lovely Southern California community just north of Los Angeles County in the heart of Ventura County. Nature abounds! Agriculture, mountains and Pacific breezes form the heart of this community.
It's challenging to bring open spaces to a community, and it takes the dedicated efforts of a wide range of people and groups. Camarillo has one of the nicest, most pleasant park profiles I've seen in Southern California. Here's a profile:
Pleasant Valley Recreation and Park District in Camarillo, CA
The Pleasant Valley Recreation and Park District is located in and around the city of Camarillo, CA approximately 10 miles inland from the Pacific Ocean. The District was formed in 1962 under the State Public Resources Code of California.
The Camarillo parks group serves 44 square miles and has grown from one park to 27 parks since its inception 41 years ago. Within the District, a variety of recreational facilities exists, including: indoor swimming pool, lighted ball fields, tennis courts, racquetball courts, a running track, children's play equipment, picnic shelters, barbecues and much more.
Currently there are 22 neighborhood parks located throughout Camarillo. Neighborhood parks are under 10 acres and serve residents within one-half mile of their home. Typically, neighborhood parks do not have restrooms or playfields and are designed for passive use.
The Pleasant Valley Recreation and Park District operates five community parks within the Camarillo community. These parks are generally over 10 acres in size and are located throughout the district so that every household has one within a one and one-half mile radius of their home. Typically, community parks have restrooms, larger playground equipment areas, tennis courts and lighted playing fields.

The Pleasant Valley web site is designed to assist the residents of Camarillo, the Pleasant Valley Recreation and Park District and the surrounding communities in Ventura County in locating information about the programs, activities and facilities available.
Regular Board meetings for the Pleasant Valley Recreation and Park District are held the first Wednesday of each month at the Camarillo Community Center - Room 6 at 1605 E. Burnley Street.
