It's challenging to bring open spaces to a community, and it takes the dedicated efforts of a wide range of people and groups. Camarillo has one of the nicest, most pleasant park profiles I've seen in Southern California. Here's a profile:

Pleasant Valley Recreation and Park District in Camarillo, CA

The Pleasant Valley Recreation and Park District is located in and around the city of Camarillo, CA approximately 10 miles inland from the Pacific Ocean. The District was formed in 1962 under the State Public Resources Code of California.

The Camarillo parks group serves 44 square miles and has grown from one park to 27 parks since its inception 41 years ago. Within the District, a variety of recreational facilities exists, including: indoor swimming pool, lighted ball fields, tennis courts, racquetball courts, a running track, children's play equipment, picnic shelters, barbecues and much more.

These parks are generally over 10 acres in size and are located throughout the district so that every household has one within a one and one-half mile radius of their home. The Pleasant Valley Recreation & Park District will provide and maintain a full range of quality facilities and programs focused on leisure, recreational and athletic activities for residents of the District.
