In addition to skill development for job opportunities in green building, trainees will learn how to make a successful application for apprenticeship to the IBEW/NECA Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee-Electrical Training Institute located in the City of Commerce.

Employer Contact for Skilled Workers in Green Building & Retrofit

If you'd like to hire these trained energy efficiency and weatherization graduates, contact the South Bay Environmental Services Center (SBESC) operated by the South Bay Cities Council of Governments.

The SBESC is Gateways’ primary employer and local government outreach partner.

Contact with building performance contractors and local authorities responsible for construction projects is made through: the South Bay Area Chambers of Commerce, individual chamber business expos, ongoing outreach to a range of building contractors, including lighting, HVAC, and solar contractors, other building trades firms, and water and energy utility companies and authorities.

In addition to employer outreach, the SBESC guides potential employers to the Gateways Program as a source of skilled workers; coordinates with energy retrofit programs developed by Los Angeles County that benefit the South Bay; and provides class speakers on energy efficiency.
